Name: Echo Choir

Occupation: Vocal ensemble

Brief Description: The Echo Choir organised a charity concert, which raised £140 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

A kind-hearted choir made up of 18 young professionals has this week’s Charity Champion all composed after raising over £100 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

The vocal ensemble, Echo, held a charity concert around the theme of ‘innocence’ – making the children’s hospital the perfect beneficiary.

Inspired to raise funds by singer, Samantha Cobb, who grew up in Birmingham and pledged to support a local cause, the generous group raised £140 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Directed by Sarah Latto, the event at St George’s Church, Edgbaston, saw over 70 people attend to enjoy an evening of Western classical music, inspired by improvisation, folk song and spoken word.

Performer Samantha Cobb said: “As an ensemble, we are passionate about delivering musical performances at the highest level and our audience in Birmingham were wonderful – we hope to return soon to perform another concert in this vibrant city.

“Birmingham Children’s Hospital is an inspiring place, which is of the greatest importance to the community in and around Birmingham. We hope we’ve raised awareness of the charity through our concert and helped those that are most vulnerable.”

Annie Eytle, Acting Events and Regional Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’re so thankful to the incredibly talented Echo Choir for choosing to raise money for our charity and making a big difference by making music!

“Our hospital treats over 90,000 children and young people from across the country every year and the money they’ve donated will help to support our brave patients, their families and the staff who care for them.”
