Birmingham Children’s Hospital has thousands of supporters and fundraisers who repeatedly go out of their way to make a real difference to the children and young people in Birmingham and beyond. Each week we will be telling the story of one of the hospital’s dedicated Charity Champions to highlight the difference that they are making.
Charity Champion Profile
Name: BDO LLP
Occupation: Accountancy and business advisory firm
Brief Description: BDO held its first-ever curling event, which raised over £2,200 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
Staff at a local accountancy firm have proved what great sports they are after raising over £2,200 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity to become this week’s Charity Champion.
Team members from BDO LLP, who have previously raised over £35,000 in support of the hospital, held their first-ever curling event to boost their charity donations.
Inspired by the incredible care they’ve witnessed over the last five years whilst fundraising, the kind-hearted colleagues decided to organise their Olympic-style fundraiser.
The event saw Birmingham businesses put their skills to the test in return for a donation and raised £2,202 in total. The firm also kindly donated 21 gift cards, with a value of £10 each, to give to teenagers at the children’s hospital.
Richard Rose, Lead Partner at BDO LLP, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which is well-known for being a centre of excellence, and we’re proud to be supporting such a special place.
“Over the last five years, all our departments have got involved with fundraising through bake sales, raffles, afternoon tea and most recently, our curling event. We’re still planning our next event but are determined to raise another £3,000 to bring our fundraising to a phenomenal £40,000.”
Elinor Eustace, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to BDO for raising such an incredible amount for our charity and we can’t wait to see the team hit their target.
“The money they’ve donated will make a massive difference to the lives of our brave young patients, and their equally brave families, all across the hospital.”
