Students and staff at King’s Hawford School, Worcester, are this week’s Charity Champions, after raising an incredible £3,000 throughout their 2016/17 school year for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Following an assembly in September 2016, where pupils were invited to nominate charities, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity received an overwhelming response, which kick-started the school into action.

From a spook-tacular Halloween disco, to a heartfelt Valentine’s Day disco, pupils were inspired to raise as much as possible for the children’s hospital, a number of whom have benefitted first-hand from Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s care.

To boost their charity coffers, the kind-hearted kids also held numerous other fundraising days, selling Christmas items during the festive period, raising dough through delicious cake sales and organising a fantastic summer fete.

Jim Turner, Headteacher at King’s Hawford School, said: “We have been delighted to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity over the past year, not least because a number of our children have benefitted enormously from the care, support and expertise of the hospital in recent years.

“Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed organising and taking part in a wide range of fundraising activities, the majority of which were initiated by the children themselves. It was wonderful to proudly present our final cheque to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity!”

Annie Eytle, Acting Events and Regional Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the students at staff at King’s Hawford School for raising such a phenomenal amount of money!

“The funds they have donated will make a massive difference to the lives of our brave children and their families, ensuring our hospital can continue to push boundaries and do more for the sick kids in our care.”
