Children's Cancer Centre Appeal

Our Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who helped us to reach our £4 million target.

Over 4,350 individual donations were made from you – our wonderful fundraisers – to allow us to build a brand new centre that will improve the lives of hundreds of cancer patients treated every year at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

David Hobin, Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, said: “Our young patients with cancer are some of the sickest children and young people in the region. Some stay with us for up to a year and many more visit the hospital regularly throughout their childhood.

“We can now create a world-class cancer centre thanks to the kind-hearted donations made by thousands of people who raised the funds in a variety of imaginative ways.

“This has been our biggest appeal to date and it really demonstrates the generosity of people from all walks of life who want to make a difference to the lives of the children and young people we treat every year. To be able to close the appeal on World Cancer Day makes it even more special.”

We hope to open our new cancer centre in late 2017.

You can still make a donation to our Oncology Unit, and we have launched two new fundraising appeals:

Our Star Appeal aims to raise £3.65 million to fund the UK’s first ever centre for children with rare diseases, and our Eye Believe Appeal needs to raise £300,000 to totally transform our Eye Department, creating a warm and friendly welcome for the 500 children who visit ever week.

Thank you for your continued support.
