From arts and craft workshops in our Outpatients Clinics to decorating the wards for Christmas, we welcome companies who allow their staff to visit us onsite for a fun, rewarding session. And that’s just what the patients say!
Read how our friends from the Co-op Wolverhampton enjoyed their volunteering experience:
"Christmas is about kids, so we wanted to choose somewhere that would benefit the children. We raised £3,600 which we used to buy presents and decorations, and we spent a fabulous morning in the Emergency Department, whilst dressed as Father Christmas, turning into a winter wonderland.
What we enjoyed most was making everyone smile – the doctors, nurses and of course the children. Making new friends and feeling that we had, for a short time, helped take everyone away from the normal day by spreading a bit of cheer.
The most valuable thing we learnt from volunteering at the hospital was the point that no matter what is going on in your own life you can always help someone else who needs it. What started out as team building event quickly changed to be all about the children. This was not about us but about those we hope we have helped.
Each one us, personally benefited from that day, by the way we all look at life, whether it be our own or someone else’s".

"LDC's approach is to work in the communities in which we operate and our 'LDC in the Community' programme was established exactly for this purpose. Birmingham Children's Hospital is a perfect example of this partnership. The hospital has a wonderful reputation for providing care for sick children from across the UK and is a great example of an organisation dedicated to its region. Everyone at LDC is proud to support this fantastic organisation. "
