At Birmingham Children's Hospital, Postgraduate Medical Education is a busy function which works to ensure that the learning experiences available to doctors in training is as good as it can be within the obvious constraints of time and funding available. This is a complex task with perhaps two main functions; organising courses and administering the study leave process.

Courses

A wide variety of courses and programmes are run through postgraduate medical education at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. These are listed below. For more details please click the links.

One Day Sub-Specialty Symposia
Designed to broaden the knowledge of Senior House Officers these symposia are also suitable for professionals with an interest in the topic.

MRCPCH 1
This is a four day examination preparation course.

MRCPCH 2
This is a 3 day preparation course for the clinical examination The next course will be run in October 2004.

The Birmingham Paediatric Dermatology Course
This course held annually is designed for SpRs and Consultants in Dermatology who have an interest in paediatrics.

The West Midlands Regional Core Programme for SpRs in Paediatrics
This course is compulsory for all SpRs in Paediatrics in the West Midlands in starter and middle grades. It consists of montly meetings conducted at Education Centres around the region on topics of importance to SpRs in Paediatrics.
