The
Liver Unit (Ward 8) is a supra-regional service and is run as
an integrated medical and surgical unit, both an inpatient and
outpatient basis. The unit is dedicated to the management of
children with liver diseases and provides integrated highly
specialised care. We offer organ transplantation services (liver,
liver and kidney, liver and small bowel, small bowel). The multidisciplinary
team includes paediatricians specialised in hepatology and gastroenterology,
surgeons specialised in hepato-biliary and transplant surgery,
and a wide variety of specialised para-medical staff; liaison
nurses, ward nursing team, transplant coordinators, dietitians,
physiotherapists and play therapists. The unit is supported
by high quality Trust-wide services including: Radiology, Histopathology,
Anaesthetic, Intensive Care amongst others.
