Liver Unit/Ward 8

The Liver Unit (Ward 8) is a supra-regional service and is run as an integrated medical and surgical unit, both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The unit is dedicated to the management of children with liver diseases and provides integrated highly specialised care. We offer organ transplantation services (liver, liver and kidney, liver and small bowel, small bowel). The multidisciplinary team includes paediatricians specialised in hepatology and gastroenterology, surgeons specialised in hepato-biliary and transplant surgery, and a wide variety of specialised para-medical staff; liaison nurses, ward nursing team, transplant coordinators, dietitians, physiotherapists and play therapists. The unit is supported by high quality Trust-wide services including: Radiology, Histopathology, Anaesthetic, Intensive Care amongst others.

3rd Birmingham Controversies in Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition Course and Liver Unit Coming of Age Celebration.

The Liver Unit is pleased to announce it will be hosting the 3rd Birmingham Controversies in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition course, 1st to 3rd July 2010. The programme is aimed at international and national Paediatric Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, Nutritionists and Allied Health Professionals
