Help us build Magnolia House

Sometimes at Birmingham Children’s Hospital we have to tell families about a child’s terminal diagnosis or that their time is short, but as our hospital is old with limited space, these difficult conversations often happen in whatever space is available – offices, kitchens, empty cubicles and playrooms.  The location where we give life-changing news is really important and can leave a negative impression in an already emotional situation.

Your star will hang on our Christmas tree in the Outpatients Department, and your message will be added to our Memory Book, which is on display in our Fundraising Hub.

Simply use our donation form at the bottom of this page to let us know what message you would like on the star and in our Memory Book.

This is why we need you!

We need your help to build a facility within the hospital that feels different to the wards and clinics, and is just for these families who need as much help as possible at a difficult time. We want to build a place where families can go and not leave when the conversation is over – a place where they can compose themselves, have time to think and a place where siblings and parents can come together for support and peace.

We are not always able to prevent a child from dying, but we can make sure we support them and their families in a place that demonstrates how much we care. That place is Magnolia House; and you can help us build it.
