Your volunteer stories

Sheila and Norman“We have been volunteers at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for about 8 years and we are usually in once a week, occasionally more.

We have counted money, filled envelopes with information to potential fundraisers, sold fundraising goods, carried out stock taking checks, delivered Easter eggs to wards and written Christmas “Light up a Child’s Life” cards.

What we enjoy most about being a volunteer is meeting people; both staff and patients and patients' families.  We also enjoy the fact that we believe we are doing something useful.

The most valuable thing that we have learnt from volunteering at the hospital is that life is very precious and we should make the most of every day we have available to us.”
