Five generous graduates from Aston University are ‘glowing’ as this week’s Charity Champions after organising a colour festival and raising £1,670 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

The former Business and Computing students – Roshani Patel, Ayesha Thobhani, Munraj Pangli, Tom Prowse and Ryan Cazey – held the fundraising festival as part of their third year ‘apprentice’ module, for which they were required to raise as much money as possible in 24 hours.

Alongside the event, the quick-thinking team also dished up some delightful treats for their cake, popcorn and pizza sale, which further boosted their coffers towards the hospital charity’s £3.65 million Star Appeal, which aims to build the UK’s first Rare Diseases Centre for children.

22-year-old Roshani said: “The event was a great success and achieved a fantastic turnout, whilst raising even more than we expected! It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves all in aid of charity and we’re pleased that the money we’ve raised will positively impact the lives of many patients and their families.”

Annie Eytle, Acting Events and Regional Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Roshani, Ayesha, Munraj, Tom and Ryan for donating such a wonderful amount towards our Star Appeal.

“We’re thrilled to announce our Star Appeal is very close to closing, meaning we’re now one step closer to building our much-needed Rare Diseases Centre and making a huge difference to our brave children and young people living with a rare or undiagnosed condition.”
