Join us for our second annual 5km sponsored walk and help do more for our sick kids. This year taking pace on Saturday 16th June 2018 at Sutton Park, the event is one for the whole family. Take a look at our You Tube Video to see what our kids are looking forward to in the activity zone! Choose one of 3 time slots to begin the walk, 10:00am, 10:30am or 11:00am when you sign up and we’ll send you a fundraising pack and further information on the day. Enjoy our activity zone pre and post walk including circus skills workshop, face painters, bouncy castle, arts and crafts, sporting activities and music. Bring a picnic or enjoy our food stalls as a well-deserved treat after you and the family have conquered the 5km walk. On The Day Read more What to expect This family friendly 5k is for all so please do encourage all friends and family to sign up with you. By attending and taking part you are supporting your local children's hospital and making a difference to the sick kids in our care. The day will start in our Activity Zone by Boldmere Gate where we will get you warmed up for the walk. You will then be set off in waves on the 5k walk around Sutton park before returning to our Activity Zone where you will find lots of fun activities to take part in. What to pack. Sturdy shoes You will be walking on a mixture of terrain including woodland paths, grassed areas and uneven ground, so we recommend you wear sturdy shoes. Suncream Weather dependant. Water Make sure you keep hydrated on route! Money For any extra food and drinks or merchandise you might want to buy at the event (each of our lovely suppliers are giving a donation to the charity). Waterproof clothing and extra layers In case it rains, you can never trust the UK weather! How long will the walk take? We anticipate the walk for those walking briskly to take around 1 hour. For those walking at a leisurely pace it will take up to 1.5 hours. You are then more than welcome to spend as much time as you like in our Activity Zone. Please note the area will close at 2pm. How To Get There / Access Read more Address: Sutton Park, Boldmere Gate, Sutton Coldfield, B73 6LH By Road Use postcode B73 6LH in a SatNav which will take you to the Boldmere Gate entrance of Sutton Park, Sutton Park is a short drive from M6 Junction 7. Take the A34 (Birmingham Road) exit and turn left onto Queslett Road. Go through three roundabouts, at the fourth roundabout take the exit onto Chester Road. Turn left onto Monmouth Drive and the car park entrance is immediately on the left. Please note there are a number of other entrances to Sutton Park, and additional Car Parks, however the Boldmere Gate car park is the closest to Activity Zone. PLEASE NOTE: The car park at Boldmere Gate is in use by the whole park so can get extremely busy. We’d therefore suggest coming on foot or by public transport if you can. We do open an overflow car park, next to the main car park but please be aware this will close at 3pm. At this time all cars will need to have vacated the overflow car park. Cars left in this area after this time are at risk of being locked in until Monday 18th June. By Train Boldmere gate is just 15 minute walk from Sutton Coldfield train station with services from Birmingham New Street and Walsall. Volunteer Read more What will I be doing? There are lots of exciting volunteer roles available. You'll be doing one or more of the following. Putting up Branding, setting up areas Registering walkers in on arrival, answering participant questions Bucket collection, stewarding queues, taking donations at stalls Selling merchandise Marshalling the route and directing participants Cheering walkers as they return and handing out goody bags.
