Red Runners are back and we need YOU more than ever.

With the cancelation of fundraising events in 2020, the Red Runners virtual run was a lifeline for our charity, meaning our amazing supporters could continue to fundraise while staying safe. A fantastic £20,000 was raised with supporters taking on the virtual challenge at their own pace.

A year later in 2021 we looked to be getting back on track with lots of you deciding to take part in the Great Birmingham Run for us, training and raising fantastic amounts with months to go.

Sadly the event has been postponed for a second time to May 2022 when organisers feel it can be held in a safe way that will maximise the enjoyment and experience for all participants.

Over the two years the event has been postponed we would expect you, our amazing supporters, to raise around £300,000 through the Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon and 10k events, fundraising income that will be sorely missed.

That’s why we’re calling on you – our extended family – to once again show your support by joining our Red Runners team instead.

We know this has been and continues to be an extremely challenging time for everyone, so we thank all of you for continuing to support the babies, children and families in our care, plus our incredible NHS heroes through fundraising events like this.

Please stick with us and don’t let your training and fundraising efforts be hampered, let’s do this together!

How it works

Choose your distance and complete a sponsored 5k,10k, half marathon or marathon by running, jogging or walking at your own pace. We've even had people swimming the distances! With a medal for each event why not go the distance and take on all four to complete the set? Join the Red Runners and help us continue to do more for the 90,000 sick kids in our hospital’s care.

We appreciate that staying active can be difficult, especially with work or family to look after, so you can complete your distance at your own pace, over a few days, weeks or months.

Whether it's your first couch to 5k or you're a seasoned runner, take on the challenge your way. You could even make it feel like race day and join friends or family to complete your challenges together (in line with government guidelines).

Taking part is easy

  1. Sign up and choose your distance
  2. Set up your fundraising page
  3. Complete your selected challenge by 10 October
  4. Send your evidence and receive your reward
