Homeserve IT department began supporting us in April 2016 when they held a staff vote to determine which charity they wanted to support. After a long history with a national health charity, Homeserve decided to let the individual departments decide, in a new process they have termed ‘Termserve’. Birmingham Children’s Hospital came on top, so the fundraising began.

The department got stuck in from day one, getting involved in different fundraisers ranging from cake sales, right through to a laser tag tournament. In the first year, Homeserve has donated over £10,000 to our £3.65million Star Appeal, to build the UK’s first rare diseases centre, which was double what they originally set out to raise.

Daniel Haynes said “For a department of just over 150 people to raise £10,000 in a year is a brilliant achievement. With the children’s hospital being close to many of our hearts and supporting the Star Appeal has been an honour. For us it’s the friendliness of the staff and the feeling you get from the hospital when you just donate your funds. We’re more than happy to support the hospital for the next year and we’ll try smash the amount we’ve raised.”

Not content with raising such an incredible amount of money, the IT department has chosen to support us for another year, and are starting the year with a charity football match at Walsall FC against the Legends team.

Kirsty White, Corporate Fundraising Officer said “Working with Homeserve has been a delight, their enthusiasm is outstanding, and they want to do all that they can to raise vital funds. We really appreciate their support and look forward to the year ahead to see what else they have planned.”
