Ringing the bell for Charity

A Worcestershire company is ringing the Charity Champion bell after raising over £2,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Oncology Department.

Vogue Showhomes, who has been supporting the Children’s Hospital since 2016, was inspired to fundraise after hearing about one of the magical moments which takes place at the hospital.

Raising £2,400 so far, the company wanted to fundraise after finding out about the ‘Oncology Bell’, a bell patients and families ring to celebrate finishing their cancer treatment.

Diane Hearnshaw, managing director at Vogue Showhomes, said: “Our motivation to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity came from watching a TV programme about the children ringing the bell after they were given the all clear. We have the same bell here in the office which is rung by the designers when they get a job confirmed, so it really touched me.

“We decided to support the department by donating £50 every time we ring our own bell, so far we’ve raised £2,400 for the charity and we don’t plan on stopping there. We’ve put a fundraising thermometer up on the wall in the office to inspire us to keep giving.”

Miranda Williams, public fundraising manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Vogue Showhomes for their continued support over the past two years. The Oncology Bell is one of the truly magical moments that takes place at our hospital and it’s a part of a family’s journey which is really important to them.

“The money Vogue Showrooms has donated will go on to support all the children, young people and their families who visit the Oncology Department each year.”
