Super Staff raise over £8,000 in less than a year.

Members of the personal banking management team at the central branch of Nationwide Building Society have been award with the title of Charity Champions after raising over £8,296 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity since May last year.

After an overwhelming amount of support was shown for the charity when it came to choosing the team’s charity of the year, the team kicked off their fundraising efforts by organising a 21 mile-long canal walk, which raised over £7,000. Other fundraising tactics have included sponsored bike rides, taking part in an abseil down the Fort Dunlop building and taking part in the charity’s fifth Big Bandage Day.

Julie Silk, quality supervisor in the personal banking manager team, comments: “With a number of our colleagues having had experiences with Birmingham Children’s Hospital – including everything from broken bones to treatment for life-threatening conditions – the amount of people who wanted to back the charity was phenomenal.

“We’ve all had great fun taking part in various events and charities over the course of the year and are proud to be able to raise the money for such a fantastic cause.”

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity added: “It’s absolutely fantastic to hear about the hard work the team at Nationwide has put in to help raise money for our sick kids. In such a short amount of time, they have managed to do so much and it has really paid off!

“The money the team at Nationwide has raised will go far in ensuring the children treated at our hospital have the best experience possible, regardless of how long or short their stay is. We want to extend a huge thank you to the team and look forward to hearing about what challenges they’ll be taking on next!”
