Will you help us to honour our fantastic fundraisers? Our annual 100 Heroes event, which takes place in May, is a fantastic celebration of some of our phenomenal supporters.

These champions have truly gone above and beyond for our hospital, from conquering extreme challenges, to organising charity concerts, and just generally being fantastic advocates of our charity. We think it’s worth celebrating them and plan to honour them at a special event to show our gratitude.

We also hand out some extra-special awards on the day, and this is where we need your help. If you know someone who deserves to be recognised for the fantastic support and contribution to our charity, you can nominate them for one of our four special Honourable Heroes Awards:

Young Fundraiser of the Year: Any fundraiser under the age of 16, who has shown enthusiasm, dedication and determination to make a significant contribution to our hospital and patients.

Volunteer of the Year: This award is for the selfless people who give us their time and expect nothing in return.

Outstanding Contribution to Fundraising: This category is for a fundraiser who has made it their mission to support our charity and had a significant impact on our hospital.

Superstar Fundraiser: This is someone who is a true champion of our charity and has gone above and beyond in trying to make a difference, whether it’s by fundraising for us, helping us to spread the word about our cause, or supporting us in our many projects.

If this sounds like anyone you know, then please help us to honour them by nominating them for one of our awards. The deadline for nominations is Friday 3 April 2020.

Here are our winners from last year

Young Fundraiser of the Year: Daniel and Matthew Bubb

Matthew was born with three heart defects and had open heart surgery at our hospital at just 10-months-old. Along with his brother, Daniel, Matthew, 14, has taken part in various fundraisers for our Cardiac Unit. They are both truly compassionate and inspirational young men.

Volunteer of the Year: Mo Wood

Mo has volunteered on and off for us for over 10 years and can often be found keeping patients on Ward 2 and the Complex Care Unit entertained. Mo is truly loved by our patients, families and staff, all of whom are delighted to have such a loyal and committed volunteer.

Outstanding Contribution to Fundraising: The Vale Family

The Vale Family has supported us since 2005, after their son, George, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Led by George, they organised fundraising discos, something his younger brother, Billy, has continued since George sadly passed away in 2011. In George’s memory, the family has raised over £29,250 to help fund research into brain tumours at our hospital. What a truly inspirational family.

Superstar Fundraiser: Callum Read

Our brilliant ambassador, 17-year-old Callum, was born with the rare condition Kyphoscoliosis, and was one of the faces of our Star Appeal. In January 2019, he was invited to address an audience of over 8,000 delegates from St. James’s Place Wealth Management who donated £1million to the appeal to say thank you and explain the impact of their gift. His wonderful speech received rapturous applause from everyone and he left us all bursting with pride.
