History timeline

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital we have never been short of ideas or dreams.

Our foundation stems from a determination to give the children of Birmingham the very best in specialised care and much of this is supported by public fundraising. Raising funds has been vital since Dr Thomas Heslop set up the Birmingham and Midland Free Hospital for Sick Children in 1862 and has always brought the best out of our local community in terms of ingenuity and generosity.

This history timeline of fundraising at our hospital emphasises that the service available to children today is due not only to the NHS, but also to the generosity of the people of Birmingham and the Midlands over the past 150 years and we hope that this will continue for many more years to come.

Legacies

guide to legacy givingBirmingham Children’s Hospital has been providing outstanding care and support for our patients for over 150 years, and much of this success is thanks to visionary givers who have chosen to remember Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity in their will after taking care of family & friends.

Thanks to our amazing legacy supporters, we can continue to see a future where the next generation of children is healthier than the last.
