Colleagues Wrap Up for Charity

A corporate team from Birmingham, who has raised an incredible £3,161 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, has now pledged their support for the charity’s fifth annual fundraiser – The Big Bandage.

Ann-Louise, along with her team mates from the Priory Rooms, has been fundraising for the charity for the last four years. The team wanted to give something back to the children’s hospital charity, which does so much for the local community.

The group from the Priory Rooms has taken part in Big Bandage since it began in 2013, and have fundraised at their venue for the yearly event by encouraging people to wear a bandage and donate. They also bake cakes and sell them off with all monies raised going to the Children’s Hospital. Alongside their Big Bandage activity, they also take on regular fundraising for the charity and even helped decorate one of the wards at Christmas time.

Ann-Louise, Sales and Marketing Executive at the Priory Rooms, said: “Every year is different on our fundraising journey, and we always have so much fun. We especially remember decorating the Renal Ward in December 2015, the theme was Disney’s ‘Frozen’ and we will never forget the children’s faces when we had finished – they were so pleased.

“Hospitals are not the nicest places to be, especially for young children, but we were amazed by everything that the hospital and its staff do for the patients and their families, to help make it the best possible experience, so we’re glad we can do our bit too.

“For Big Bandage this year, we’re planning to wear and sell bandages as well as hold a coffee morning in which everyone is welcome”

The Big Bandage has raised more than £192,836 since it first launched in 2013 and has seen thousands of celebrities, businesses, patients, staff, office workers, schools and community groups bandaged up in aid of the children’s hospital.

The beauty of this year’s campaign is supporters can choose whichever ward, service or department their money goes to, meaning they’ll be helping to shape the future of Birmingham Children’s Hospital and make a real difference to the treatment, care and support it offers for generations to come.

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We can’t thank Ann-Louise and the team from the Priory Rooms enough for supporting our charity over the years. Their support has a direct impact on the 90,000 children and young people we look after each year.”

She added: “We would love as many people as possible to get involved in this year’s Big Bandage event so we can make it bigger, better and braver than ever before.

“You can organise your own bandage-themed activities like Ann-Louise and her team, or just show your support through donning a bandage and making a donation to our charity. Whether you wrap your arm, your leg, your boss, please join us from now until Friday 9 March and make a big difference to the brave patients treated at our hospital.”

There are plenty of ways to get involved in this year’s flagship fundraiser, either by organising your own Big Bandage day, signing up to the hospital’s ‘Be Brave Abseil’, taking a picture in a bandage and uploading it to social media using #BIGBandage18, or making a donation to the hospital charity by texting BIGB18 to 70070 or donating or via
