Sahara Trek

This is a superb trekking adventure taking you up to 100km into the biggest desert in the world, the Sahara.

The circular route will allow you to fully experience this beautiful region as you traverse hamada, twisting wadis and untouched windblown sand dunes, whilst encountering salt pan induced mirages, deserted villages and wells frequented by nomads. The pinnacle of your trek will be to watch the sunset from the top of Erg Zaher, a 580m dune and one of the highest in the region.

Walking between 6 and 7 hours a day, we stop for leisurely lunches in the shade of the tamarisk trees and wild camp each night on the sand dunes beneath star-filled skies which come alive without the effects of light pollution.

If you are not self-funding the trek, you will need to meet the minimum sponsorship target to pay for the challenge. You must be ready to pay each increment detailed below, and in order to do this must have raised funds offline (usually cash) and/or opened a JustGiving crowdfunding (5% fee) or gofundme page (free). You would then use these funds to pay Travel & Trek.

• Final balance £200 due 10 weeks before departure to Travel & Trek (paid by charity)
• Everything on top paid to Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity

Full minimum sponsorship (£1,300)

• Deposit £200 on booking to Travel & Trek
• Final balance £650 due 10 weeks before departure to Travel & Trek (paid by charity)
• Everything on top paid to Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity

*Not including flights. Travel and Trek who organise the challenge can assist you with advice on the best, most reliable flights for this destination based on their extensive experience of such matters. Their services will commence when they collect you at the destination airport and finish when we drop you back there, unless otherwise agreed.
