Calling all Home Heroes!

We want you to step up and take on an exciting sporting or physical challenge to help raise funds for the vital services that our charity supports. Will you take on the 2.6 Challenge for our sick kids?

The organisers of some of the largest mass participation sports events in the UK, including the London Marathon and the Great Run Company, have come together to help support charities like ours, who have seen a great impact on their fundraising income, due to fundraising events and challenges up and down the country having been cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19. Their 2.6 Challenge is inspired by the 26 miles you run when taking on a marathon.

The 2.6 Challenge asks you to think outside of the box and choose your own challenge, using the markers 2.6, 26 or 260 as your goal. Don’t worry, we aren’t asking you to run a marathon, you could do 26 laps around your garden instead, whether that’s by jogging, skipping or on roller skates! Alternatively, why not run 2.6 miles every day for a week, or brave 260 push ups? The great thing is – you can come up with a brilliant idea that is totally unique to you!

How to get involved

1) Get creative and choose your own challenge. There are lots of ideas for you to check out as further inspiration here.

2) Head to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity Challenge page on the 2.6 Challenge website and choose to donate or fundraise.

3) If you choose to fundraise, be sure to ask your friends and family to sponsor you and share your fundraiser.

4) Get warmed up and pumped up and complete your challenge! Lots of people have chosen Sunday 26 April as their challenge day, as this should have been the day of the London Marathon 2020, but don’t worry, you can still take part afterwards, whatever works best for you.

5) Finally, don’t forget to share a photo or video on social media, using the #TwoPointSixChallenge hashtag, and tagging us in, so you can inspire others to come up with their own take on the challenge.

The money you raise will help us as we continue to deliver vital services for our patients and their families at this difficult time, so sign up today, get creative and get fundraising to give something back to our NHS Heroes and the amazing kids in our care!

Thanks, as always for your incredible support.
