Thanks to an incredible donation of over £1million from Children with Cancer UK, in partnership with Kwik-Fit, children and young people living with cancer from across the West Midlands, Oxfordshire and parts of Southern England can now benefit from improved genetic testing following the purchase of a highthroughput sequencing machine.

The NovaSeq 6000 is a novel piece of DNA sequencing equipment which has enabled the rapid expansion of cancer genetic testing at the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory, the UK’s largest genetics laboratory, based at our Trust.

Genomic testing for patients diagnosed with cancer is important as it allows our scientists to identify pertinent DNA changes, which our doctors can then match to new and improved, and often less-toxic, cancer drugs and treatments.
