Roxanne Hill, from Worcester, recently won £1,000 on our charity lottery. She has been playing the lottery each month since 2017, as a small way of saying thank you for saving her son Alfie's life.

When he was five-years-old, Alfie was rushed to his local A&E after bumping his head, but during further tests, an MRI scan showed a brain tumour – a completely unexpected and devastating diagnosis. Within an hour of receiving the news, Alfie was transferred to our hospital, and the next day surgeons performed an operation to remove as much of the tumour as they could.

Four years and a couple of operations later, their recent lottery win isn't the only exciting news Roxanne and Alfie's family are celebrating. In October 2020 they found out that Alfie’s latest surgery was a huge success and he has no brain tumour remaining!

Roxanne said: "We haven’t yet been able to celebrate properly so as soon as we’re able to, we’re going to spend it on a family holiday of Alfie and his brother's choice! We can’t wait!"
