In January 2018 following a 10-month campaign we hit target on our £230,000 Out To Play Appeal.

In January 2018 following a 10-month campaign we hit target on our £230,000 Out To Play Appeal, which totally transformed the hospital’s outdoor playground. 

It was essential to create a space where patients and siblings could escape the clinical atmosphere of the wards and get some fresh air and exercise, as well as much-needed time with their family.

After 13 years of constant use, the previous playground was tired and outdated.

Play can have a huge impact on a child’s hospital experience, helping them to feel relaxed and distracted for what treatment lies ahead.  

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we created a vibrant new space complete with a basketball net, an interactive wall, a climbing frame, a wheelchair friendly roundabout and a swing – the first time the playground has had a swing.
