We know that the arts can make a positive difference to the wellbeing of patients, families, visitors and staff. That’s why we’re proud to fully fund an arts programme every year, called EnjoyArt.

Using art to inspire young minds

The opportunity to participate in or enjoy all forms of creativity – such as music, singing, theatre, arts and crafts, or sensory making – can enhance a patient’s experience by reducing anxiety and stress. Colourful and uplifting environments can also boost the mood of patients and staff alike, improving communication and increasing resilience. 

EnjoyArt works closely with professional artists and entertainers who lead regular workshops and bedside sessions tailored to all abilities, ensuring those not well enough to leave the warddon’t miss out on this type of engagement. The likes of Singing Medicine and Rhythm Time provide interactive musical sessions to children, while Let’s Animate helps our kids create their own plasticine characters, which are turned into stop-motion short films.  

Around the hospital you’ll find POD magicians often performing balloon modelling and magic shows in our Play and Admissions Centre, where our kids anxiously wait to be admitted for a procedure or treatment. In our Waterfall House foyer, musicians from CBSO, including harpists, will play soothing music as patients arrive to the hospital.
