We need to raise £1.5m to transform our Burns Centre, creating a healing environment for children with some of the most traumatic injuries.

A centre to match our world-class care

As one of only five paediatric Burns Centres in the UK, our hospital delivers world-class care for some of the worst burns cases in the country and beyond.

A burn is one of the most traumatic injuries a child can experience. Some of the severest burns need ongoing specialist care throughout childhood, meaning our hospital becomes a second home.

Our Burns Centre has not been updated since it was first opened – almost 20 years ago. We need to improve the areas where patients are treated to help aid their recovery.

Enhancing patient areas

This appeal will allow us to reconfigure and update both the inpatient and outpatient areas of our Burns Centre.

Your donation will help us to:

  • Create a new high-dependency room for our most critical patients, upgrading the facilities and providing space for therapy.
  • Update two private rooms for patients who are at risk of infection, with natural light and playful designs to make the space feel less clinical.
  • Create a dedicated laser treatment room. Lasers are being increasingly used for burn and scar treatment, but this currently happens in whichever clinic room is available.
  • Transform the outpatient area, creating a new child-friendly reception area to ease patient and family anxiety ahead of appointments.
  • Create a new nurse base in the inpatient area and update the existing playroom.

Help us create a healing environment

We’re grateful to have already received pledges of £750,000 from businesses and philanthropic individuals and organisations, meaning we have just £750,000 left to raise.

Can you help us update our world-class Burns Centre to support our patients in their healing journey?
