Both Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s General Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy (available at bch.org.uk) also apply when applying to be a Hope Aquarium Ambassador, or when interacting with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity through any other means.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity is committed to protecting your data and will never sell supporters’ data to third parties. By providing any personal information you consent to the terms and conditions of the Privacy Policy.
Who can apply:
Current patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital aged between four-16 years old by Friday 19 June 2026 are eligible to apply to join this voluntary scheme.
This is a volunteer role. There will be no payment for being chosen as one of our Hope Aquarium Ambassadors.
Opening/closing date and time:
Applications to become a Hope Aquarium Ambassador open for eligible applications from Friday 15 May 2026 at 00:01. Applications close at 17:00 on Friday 19 June 2026. Any applications received after this date will not be considered.
Selecting volunteers
Volunteers will be selected based on the quality of application. In order to best represent all of our patients, we will select two volunteers per age category: 4-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-16 years. Selected ambassadors will be notified by phone or email no later than 17:00 on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
Publicity and event attendance requirements
We ask selected Hope Aquarium Ambassadors to attend key events related to our Hope Aquarium, including its unveiling event in late 2026. Events timings and dates will be confirmed as soon as possible. We also ask volunteers to appear in publicity and promotion, including appearing on camera and video, to help raise awareness of the Hope Aquarium.
Changing your mind
If you no longer wish to be a Hope Aquarium Ambassador, please let us know as soon as you possibly can by email or phone.
How to apply
To apply, patients must submit an online application form no later than 17:00 on Friday 19 June 2026. If patients are aged under 16 years, the form must be submitted by the patient’s parent or guardian.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity General Terms and Conditions:
By applying, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Applications open at 00:01 on Friday 15 May 2026 and closes for entries at 17:00 on Friday 19 June 2026.
- Current patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital aged between four -16 years by Friday 19 June 2026 are eligible to apply. Anyone who is outside this age range or not a current patient at this hospital as of Friday 19 June 2026 will not be considered.
- If a patient is aged under 16, their form must be completed by their parent or guardian.
- Volunteer ambassadors will be selected based on the quality of applications. In order to best represent all of our patients, we will select two volunteers per age category: 4-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-16 years
- Selected volunteers will be notified by phone or email no later than 17:00 on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
- We ask selected Hope Aquarium Ambassadors to attend key events related to our Hope Aquarium, and to appear in publicity and promotion related to the Hope Aquarium, including photography and filming.
- If a patient changes their mind and no longer wishes to be a Hope Aquarium Ambassador, we ask them to let us know as soon as possible.
- The Charity is committed to protecting the privacy of participants. Personal information that is collected from participants is used lawfully in accordance with all current Data Protection Legislation(s). In providing your information to the Charity, you consent to the Charity using your information to process your application and otherwise as described in these terms and conditions. - The Promoter reserves the right to:
- Disqualify or decline to accept the application of any participant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the participant has breached any of these terms or otherwise acted fraudulently;
- Terminate or suspend the Hope Aquarium Ambassador volunteering scheme for reasons beyond its reasonable control.
- In the event of any dispute regarding the Hope Aquarium Ambassador volunteer scheme, if the dispute cannot be resolved by the parties, it will be referred to an independent third party.
