What's it like?
The Great North Run is about regional pride, ordinary people doing extraordinary things, it’s about heart. Since 1981 it’s brought people together – from first timers to all timers and once in a life timers, from charities to fundraisers and costume wearers, from famous faces to world-beaters and true local legends.
Over 45 years it’s created memories, milestones and moments that stay with people for life, inspiring generation after generation.
What started as a fun run is now the world’s biggest half marathon.
Registration is just £25 in return for a £500 fundraising pledge. You can apply for one of our 20 charity places now!
What happens once I sign up?
If your application is successful, we will then send you a fundraising pack with your own iconic red balloon running top and after you’ve smashed your run, you’ll get one of our mighty certificates for you to display on your fridge with pride.
How do I fundraise?
You’ll have newsletters, tips and advice from us - our fundraising team will be with you every step of the way guiding you to maximise your fundraising and helping you achieve your goal! We ask that everyone taking part tries their best with fundraising to help us do more for sick kids at our amazing hospital.
