Golf Society Sinks A Hole In One For Children’s Hospital

A generous community golf society has raised a ‘tee-rific’ £4,500 for sick kids at our Children’s Hospital.

Arden Oak Golf Society in Solihull were on par for patients, holding a charity golf day for our charity after golf club member Darren O’Grady inspired them to support the cause.

Darren’s son, Billy, has cerebral palsy and has been supported by our hospital for much of his childhood.

Darren explained: “The hospital has always been there for us when we’ve needed them. The care, treatment and support they provide is outstanding, and it’s difficult to put into words just how much that means to families facing challenging circumstances.”

Keen to help kids like Billy, the club voted to support our hospital for their annual charity day, and members got together to put on a round of golf with a fundraising twist. Forty members joined the fun and friendly team competition, knowing the money raised would go to a good cause.

Getting into the swing of fundraising, the club also put on a charity raffle and auction in the evening, with members generously donating prizes. The club members dug deep, raising an incredible £4,500 for our Children’s Hospital.

Darren commented: “This fundraiser was particularly close to my heart. Knowing first-hand the difference the hospital makes to children and their families was a huge motivation for getting involved.

“A huge thank you goes to all the members and everyone who supported the event. To see so many people come together and raise such a fantastic amount is incredibly touching. The money raised will help Birmingham Children’s Hospital continue providing vital care, support and opportunities for children and families who need it most, and we’re very grateful to everyone who played a part in making that happen.”
