We’ve partnered with the charity MediCinema to bring a cinema to our hospital. To make sure we can provide magical experiences for our patients and families for years to come at no cost to them or the NHS, we need to raise £100,000 every year, so ask you to support us in our mission.

Bringing the magic back to Hospital stay

Following a £1m appeal, we’re proud to have funded a state-of-the art MediCinema in our hospital.  Lengthy hospital stays, where patients are often isolated from their parents, siblings and friends, can affect an entire family’s mental health, with feelings of fear and anxiety having a direct impact on a patient’s recovery.  

Research has proven having access to a cinema experience while in hospital can transform physical, mental and emotional health. It can also increase a child’s resilience. 

A big screen with a bigger purpose 

Located in the heart of our hospital, our MediCinema – the largest in operation – features 84 purpose-made, movie-style seats, and space to accommodate wheelchairs, hospital beds and medical equipment to ensure it is accessible for all.  

We expect to provide around 260 screenings per annum, including the latest film releases, and put smiles on the faces of an estimated 5,000 attendees every year.

With your help, our sick kids and their families will be able to create special memories and feel less isolated during long periods of time in our hospital.

We provide £90,000 to our Chaplaincy every year to ensure they can continue their vital support of our patients’ and families’ wellbeing.
